Interacting with a FileMaker solution using an Amazon voice controlled device.
The recent introduction of FileMaker’s rest API has widened the capabilities of FileMaker to integrate with outside services. Among those services are Amazon’s Alexa Skill kits. In a tech world where customers are coming to expect, at least, a voice control option as the norm we should be confident in FileMaker’s ability to provide that level automation. In short, we want to be able to say “Yes, we can do that” to our customers.
We will take a look at a very simple database file and a custom Alexa Skill Kit that allows the user to query and manipulate data using an Amazon Alexa. The discussion that follows will explore ideas of how this kind of usability can be fully realized and positioned in the solutions we build.
