Code of Ethics

The safety and welfare of society and the common good, duty to our principals, and to each other, requires that we adhere, and be seen to adhere, to the highest ethical standards of behavior. Therefore, strict adherence to this Code is a condition of participation in PauseOnSecurity:

 

  1. First, do no harm.

  2. Act honorably, honestly, justly, responsibly, and legally.

  3. Protect society, the common good, necessary public trust and confidence, and the infrastructure.

  4. Protect any private and confidential information gained. Do not collect, give, sell, or transfer any information to a third party without prior consent.

  5. Disclose any vulnerabilities discovered in a responsible manner by first reporting it to the affected party and giving them a reasonable amount of time to resolve the problem. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Responsible_disclosure

  6. Ensure ethical conduct and professional care at all times on all professional assignments without prejudice.

  7. Not to take part in any black hat activity or be associated with any black hat community that serves to endanger networks.

 

Ethics Committee Members

 

The Ethics Committee consists of the PauseOnSecurity steering committee. They will hear all ethics complaints and make recommendations on action. As complaints and responses are received, the committee reviews both sides and renders a recommendation to the board for a final decision. Ernest Koe and John Sindelar, as the founders of PauseOnError make up this board.
