PauseOnSecurity

Chicago, IL
22-23 Oct 2018

We'd like to invite you to join us in Chicago on Oct. 22-23 to have a conversation about security and data-privacy as it relates to the FileMaker platform.

We seem to be at an inflection point in our community where these important discussions at the periphery warrant some focus. We see this Pause[X] as an opportunity to take a first pass at this topic —a test-run to explore in a thoughtful way what it'd take to organize a full-size, security-focused PauseOnError for our community in the future. It'll be a little messy but also a lot of fun.

One more thing, we will be asking attendees to read and abide by a Code of Ethics  as well as a Code of Conduct for this Pause.

We hope to see you all there.

About Pause

Want to get involved?

PauseOnError is a gathering of software developers and consultants who use FileMaker. This is a SELF-ORGANIZING effort; content is created by the attendees who don't listen to presentations: they participate in discussions, share, and make things. It's taken many forms over the years but, above all, it's just really cool to get together, share our work, get feedback and learn from each other. Check out past events for more.

It should be noted that no ethically-trained software engineer would ever consent to write a DestroyBaghdad procedure. Basic professional ethics would instead require him to write a DestroyCity procedure, to which Baghdad could be given as a parameter.

In a relatively short time we've taken a system built to resist destruction by nuclear weapons and made it vulnerable to toasters.
